SPARTANBURG (AP) — A South Carolina native attending Wofford College is one of 32 American students selected as 2013 Rhodes Scholars to receive scholarships to Oxford University.

The award announced Saturday pays all expenses for up to four years of study at the university in England for Rachel Marie Woodlee of Greer.

Wofford said Woodlee is a senior majoring in business economics and Chinese and is also a star on the school’s volleyball team. The Phi Beta Kappa member is a graduate of Mauldin High School

Rhodes Scholarships were created in 1902 by the will of British philanthropist Cecil Rhodes and have a value of about $50,000 per year.
