Land preservation and open land make the Aiken Hound's Blessing of the Hounds in Hitchcock Woods Thanksgiving Day tradition possible. The Aiken Land Conservancy is doing its part with a prelude to the ceremony that's symbolic to the start of Aiken's holiday season. The group will be hosting Bloodies and Bagels at the Aiken County Historical Museum from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning.
The event serves as a forum for locals, their families and friends to get together, while providing tourists a chance to meet people from within the community and sample the local flavor as they prepare for one the nation's most time-honored traditions, the Aiken Hounds' Blessing of the Hounds in Hitchcock Woods. Bloodies and Bagels will be held on the lawn of the museum to the left of the museum's main entrance.
Those attending the event will have an opportunity to enjoy bagels, coffee, orange juice and Bloody Marys. The mission of Aiken Land Conservancy, a private nonprofit organization, is to preserve natural and historic resources through land conservation, and donations to the ALC will be accepted. All the proceeds from the event will go to the ALC. The presenting sponsors for Bloodies and Bagels are Einstein Bros. Bagels, Harvard's Wine and Spirits, High Country Olive Oil and Ryan's Downtown Market & Deli.
The supporting sponsors for the event include Aiken Dry Goods, Aiken Saddlery and Supply, Banks Mill Feeds, Michael and Lisa Hosang with the Carolina Real Estate Company, Charlie Fliflet CPA, PA, Folly, Innovative Solutions and New Moon Cafe.
In the event of inclement weather, Bloodies and Bagels will moved inside the museum.
