Mental health center earns accreditation
The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities has accredited the Aiken-Barnwell Mental Health Center for a period of three years in the following areas: Community Integration: Psychosocial Rehabilitation Adults; Outpatient Treatment-Mental Health Adults and Outpatient Treatment-Mental Health Children and Adolescents. Operated by the S.C. Department of Mental Health, the center is a component of the agency’s Division of Community Mental Health Services.
“Aiken-Barnwell Mental Health Center should be extremely proud of the three year accreditation,” said Geoffrey J. Mason, deputy director of community mental health services. “It is indicative of the hard work of the staff and the fact that quality services are being provided every day to children and adults in Aiken and Barnwell counties. Three-year accreditation is the best you can get, and I extend my congratulations to the staff for this achievement.”
In fiscal year 2012, Aiken-Barnwell served 4,520 individuals, including 1,559 children and 144 individuals over the age of 65. It provides services to Aiken and Barnwell counties.
