Howell re-elected NAACP president
On Nov. 13, the Aiken Branch of the NAACP held its branch elections of officers and board members. Philip C. Howell was re-elected to a second term as president of the branch. Howell gained notoriety for his becoming the first non-African-American to lead a South Carolina branch of the NAACP. Also re-elected were first vice president Louisianna Sanders and second vice president the Rev.Wesley Guyton.
