The Aiken County Sheriff's Office is investigating an armed robbery that happened early Friday at a Beech Island motel.
The robbery happened around 12:20 a.m. at the Royal Inn located at 4638 Jefferson Davis Highway.
According to a sheriff's report, the victim heard a knock at the door of his motel room. When he opened the door, a man he was unable to identify pointed a gun at him and demanded money.
The victim gave money and his wallet to the robber, who left with a woman he was also unable to identify in a blue Chevrolet S-10 pickup. They left in an unknown direction.
The victim told officers the man asked him earlier in the evening for a ride to Duncan Road, and told the victim “that he had recently been released from prison where he had been incarcerated for 16 years.”
Officers obtained surveillance footage that showed a vehicle matching the description pulling up to one of the rooms at the motel, according to the report. Officers spoke with the occupants of that room who said they didn't know anyone driving the described vehicle.
The suspect is described as a white male with a goatee. He was wearing blue jeans, brown boots, a green sweat shirt and was carrying a backpack.
So far, no arrests have been made in the case.
