Miss Shannon DeNeece Mitchell, of Columbia, SC and Mr. William Ryan Dukes, of Columbia, SC, were married Friday, November 9, 2012 at half past six in the evening in Columbia, SC, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church. The bride was given in marriage by her parents. The uncle of the bride, the Reverend Monsignor Richard D Harris, Pastor and Vicar General and Reverend S. Matthew Gray, Parochial Vicar officiated the wedding ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Auren Haygood Mitchell III of Aiken, SC. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Harris of Vaucluse, SC and Mr. and Mrs. Auren Haygood Mitchell II of North Augusta, SC. Honorary grandmother was Mrs. Willie Mae Wilson, of Warrenville, SC.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Bowers Dukes of Chapin, SC. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Myles Kittner of Lexington, SC and Mr. William Everest Dukes and the late Mrs. Evelyn Bowers Dukes of Chapin, SC.

Mrs. April Mitchell Flowers of Trenton, SC and Mrs. Stayci Mitchell Logue, of North Augusta, SC, sisters of the bride were matrons of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Amanda Brooke Castles, of Lexington, SC, high school friend of the bride; Miss Claudia Erin Cassell, of Florence, SC, friend of the bride; Miss Carolina Alicia Cunningham, of Raleigh, NC, friend of the bride; Mrs. Katherine Sintich Dukes, of Hanahan, SC, sister in law of the groom; Doctor Nardin “Dina” Nabil Khalil of Columbia, SC, college friend of the bride; Mrs. Erin Rolland Inman, of Santa Rosa, CA, college friend of the bride.

Mr. William Collin Baehr of Columbia, SC, longtime friend of the groom was the best man. Groomsmen were Mr. Thomas Vincent Bijak II, of Lexington, SC, friend of the groom; Mr. Brian Michael Dukes, of Columbia, SC, cousin of the groom; Mr. Matthew Thomas Dukes of Hanahan, SC, brother of the groom; Mr. Bryan Christopher Hennigan of Brooklyn, NY, friend of the groom; Mr. Tradd Alexander Martin, of Columbia, SC, friend of the groom; Mr. Elijah Otha Sanderlin, of Charleston, SC, friend of the groom; Mr. Samuel Anthony Scrivener, of Leesville, SC, friend of the groom.

Specialist Auren Stanford Mitchell of Aiken, SC, brother of the bride was the honorary groomsman. He is serving our country with the 4th Alabama National Guard. He is currently stationed in Kabul, Afghanistan with the 1st Battalion 167th Infantry, Higher Headquarters Command-Task Force Centurion Prime, for Operation Enduring Freedom.

Doctor Michael Todd Crump and Mrs. Ann Steineger were scripture readers. Program attendants were Mrs. Jean Triskett Martin and Miss Shannon Kathleen Morgan. Miss Lindsay Elizabeth Grosso, college friend of the bride, was also a reader.

Music for the ceremony was directed by Mrs. Janet Marks, director of music/organist, and provided by the adult choir of Saint Joseph Catholic Church. The cantor was Ms. Rose Tindall.

Following a reception held at the Rowland Education Building in Columbia, SC hosted by the bride and groom parents, the couple left for an extended wedding trip to Eastern Europe traveling through Mediterranean countries including Turkey, Greece, and the cities of Italy: Venice, Florence, and Rome.

The bride is a 2003 graduate of Aiken High School. She is a graduate of Wofford College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish, and holds a Master of Arts degree in Speech Language Pathology and Audiology from South Carolina State University. She is employed with NHC Healthcare, as a speech language pathologist.

The bridegroom is a graduate of Christ School. He is a graduate of Johnson and Wales University and holds an Associate of Science degree in Culinary Arts, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management. He is employed as the manager of operations for the Blue Marlin Restaurant and the general manager of the Blue Marlin Signature Catering of Columbia, SC.

The couple will reside in Columbia, SC.
