Al Tyler of Tyler Brothers Hardware in Wagener assisted the Aiken Civil Air Patrol with its recent Rocket Day. He allowed the cadets to use the grounds of the Perry Airport to launch their rockets. The cadets launched single-stage and two-stage rockets. The four cadets that completed the program were awarded the Rocketry Patch. During the day, the cadets learned about apogee, wind, launching safety and rocket motors. The rocket program is part of aerospace education available to the cadets. While in CAP, the cadets learned how to use a compass, search and rescue skills, communications and first aid. The cadets were able to launch and recover 25 rockets for the day.
