Rick Porter’s Fox Hill Farm’s Joyful Victory returns Saturday in the 1-mile $150,000 Grade 2 Chilukki Stakes at Churchill Downs. The 4-year-old daughter of Grade 1 winner Tapit is the 4/1 second choice on the morning-line in the field of 11 entries. Joyful Victory was broken and trained by Tim and Cary Frommer.
The gray filly will carry 121 pounds, and the Larry Jones charge will have jockey Robby Albarado in the irons. A graded stakes winner twice during her sophomore campaign that saw the filly record impressive victories by significant margins in both the Grade 3 Honeybee Stakes and Grade 2 Fantasy Stakes at Oaklawn Park, Joyful Victory has run in the money in each of her five starts as a 4-year-old, including a 1/2-length victory in winning the Tiffany Lass Stakes this winter at the Fair Grounds.
Joyful Victory last worked on Oct. 29, breezing 5-furlongs in 1:02. The filly turned in consecutive second place finishes in the 1 1/16-mile Grade 1 Zenyatta Stakes on Sept. 29 at Santa Anita Park and the 1-mile Grade 3 Gardenia Stakes at Ellis Park on Aug. 11.
Joyful Victory has 4 wins, 4 seconds and 2 thirds from 13 lifetime starts, and has bankrolled $625,068.
