Aiken High School will hold its fifth annual career night from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the high school.

The event is open to all students and parents from Aiken High, Schofield Middle School and Aiken Middle School, according to Karen Lusby-Ieffel, career specialist for the high school.

The career fair will feature 45 local businesses and industries representing 60 to 70 different occupations from each of the 16 career clusters, Ieffel said.

Past events have attracted a variety of business people, professionals and representatives of educational and governmental organizations, including the Aiken County Career Center, the Aiken Department of Public Safety, the College of Charleston and the Medical University of South Carolina.

“This is a great opportunity for students and their parents to talk about the kinds of jobs, skills and education needed for employment in their area of interest,” she said.

The festivities on Tuesday will include demonstrations, “freebies” and door prizes for those in attendance and light refreshments provided by the high school’s culinary arts program.

Attendees may begin arriving as early as 5:15 p.m. Aiken High is located at 449 Rutland Drive.
