A mother and her son were transported to a local hospital Thursday night after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Whiskey Road, according to the Aiken Department of Public Safety.
According to Capt. David Turno, the women and her child suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The incident happened Thursday evening on Whiskey Road near the Publix shopping center, Turno said.
The woman and her child were crossing Whiskey Road, legally, and were in the median, he said. A vehicle was entering Whiskey Road from East Gate Drive, and the driver looked and saw that the traffic was clear but didn’t look in the median, Turno said.
The accident shut down the northbound lanes of Whiskey Road for 10 to 15 minutes while paramedics transported the woman and her child from the scene, Turno said.
The driver of the vehicle “will be shown at fault,” Turno said.
