Cold Creek Nurseries is embracing autumn and hopes to get other residents into the spirit as well during its Saturday celebration.

The business is celebrating the flavors of fall with a family-friendly event that will offer treats, fun activities and a chance to see some unique plant displays.

Michaela Berley of Cold Creek Nurseries said this is the first time the business has held the event, and it's something that goes along well with their motto, “where all seasons become traditions.” Berley said Saturday's celebration marks a time of cool, crisp weather, vibrant colors in nature and sensational flavors that make fall a terrific season.

“The autumn weather is just the perfect time to be outside, to enjoy the beautiful colors and watch the changing leaves as well as plant trees and shrubs,” Berley said.

Two seminars will be offered including “Fall Tree and Shrub Planting” starting at 11 a.m. and “Winter Color Combination Containers” at 1 p.m.

Free activities include a pot-a-pansy for the children where they get to take their flower home, a bouncy house and face painting.

An “eerie plant display” has also been put together including tiny Venus flytraps, bleeding hearts and snapdragons just to name a few that have Halloween-themed names.

Pictures will also be taken in front of a fall display and Walgreens on Whiskey Road will provide a free 4 x 6 photo.

Caramel drizzled apples, popcorn and soda will be offered as refreshments. Jams, jellies and baked goods will also be available for purchase.

The event is free but Cold Creek is asking for non-perishable, canned food items to help fill wheelbarrows that will be given to the Golden Harvest Food Bank.

Cold Creek Nurseries is located at 398 Hitchcock Parkway in Aiken. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
