Lil Wayne’s skate park opening delayed
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The opening has been delayed for a New Orleans skate park launched by Lil Wayne and corporate sponsors.
Ward McLendon, who manages the Lower 9th Ward facility where the Trukstop skate park is located, said Wednesday there was a “misunderstanding” over when the park would open.
Organizers at a Sept. 26 ribbon-cutting said the park would open to the public on Oct. 1, but McLendon said the insurance and staff needed to run the facility could not be lined up in time.
McLendon said the public will be able to use the park starting Oct. 27.
The Grammy-winning rapper partnered with Mountain Dew and Glu Agency, a New York-based advertising firm, to launch the park, which was built with recycled materials provided by Brad Pitt’s Make It Right Foundation.
Bieber says items stolen during show
SEATTLE (AP) — Justin Bieber said some of his belongings were stolen during a show in Washington state.
The pop star tweeted to his nearly 29 million followers that he and his tour manager were victimized during the show Tuesday night at the Tacoma Dome. He didn’t lay out exactly what was stolen but referenced a computer and a camera. He said what bothers him the most is that he had a lot of “personal footage” on them.
He adds that “people should respect other’s property.”
A Tacoma police spokesman said officers are not investigating because no police report has been filed.
Glenn Beck’s empty SUV crashes down hill
LODI, N.Y. (AP) — Radio talk show host Glenn Beck’s family had a close call when their sport utility vehicle rolled down a steep hill in New York’s Finger Lakes region just after they had exited the SUV.
In an account of the mishap posted on Beck’s website, TheBlaze.com, he said he was hugging his newly married daughter as his wife got their young son out of the vehicle. They had just arrived at the cottage rented for the daughter’s wedding reception last weekend in Lodi, on Seneca Lake. Beck said the SUV slid down the hill and overturned, coming to rest near the shoreline.
Photos on the website show the SUV with broken windows and damage to its passenger side.
The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office said the accident wasn’t reported to police in the county.
