Thanks for support for Lions

The Aiken Mid-Day Lions Club held its 5th annual Wine Tasting, “Banksia Comes to Life at Night”, co-chaired by Lion Pat Friday and Lion Brenda Steenland, on Oct. 4 at the Aiken County Historical Museum.

The event included tastings for over 20 different types of wine, entertainment, as well as hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction. More than 200 tickets were sold for the event.

All proceeds from the wine tasting will support the Aiken Mid-Day Lions Club’s Educational/Scholarship fund. Last year, our club awarded five scholarships in our community, including a scholarship for a young blind girl. This year we are on track to do even more.

None of this would have been possible without the support of our sponsors and friends who we would like to say a big thank you to: Aiken Internal Medical Associates, Atlantic Broadband, Triangle Dodge, Chrysler Jeep, First Citizens Bank, Dixie Riverside, DayBreak, Lars and Linda Garcad and Mike and Lisa Hosang.

We would also like to recognize the following for their generous support as well: the Aiken County Historical Museum, Stoplight Deli, Cold Creek Nurseries, Marilyn Adock, Trinity on Laurens, Carol Sue Roberts and Palmetto Package Shop and Wines.

And last, but not least, we say thank you to our community for supporting this event over the years and helping us make a difference in the lives of others. Without the assistance of educational funding, college might not be an option for some individuals.

We look forward to next year’s event and your support as we build more dollars for scholars in our community.
