The Lady T-Breds came in second at Lexington Country Club, but Taylor Dodson took medalist honors with a 35. The Lady T-Breds will next play in Edisto’s Low Country Invitational.
North Augusta resident leads SCGA event in Florence
In competition in Florence, North Augusta resident Bob Rickman was in the lead after one of two rounds in the SCGA Super Senior Championship at Florence Country Club. Rickman shot a 1-over 72 to hold a one-stroke lead in the Championship Flight.
Area junior golfers finish well in weekend event
In competition on Saturday and Sunday, several area junior golfers had good showing at the 18th Annual Tradition Four-Ball at Pebble Creek Country Club in Taylors. In the girls’ 14- to 18-year-old division, South Aiken’s Taylor Dodson teamed with Lexington’s Sydney Legacy to win in a playoff. In boys’ 15- to 18-year-old play, South Aiken’s Alex Handy and Ryan Carpenter teamed up to finish second with a two-day total of 135, three strokes off the lead.
Ridge Spring-Monetta 2-2, North 1-0
Ridge Spring-Monetta (8-8, 6-4 Region 4-A) won the region doubleheader on Tuesday with scores of 25-16, 21-25, 25-18 and 25-6, 25-12. Raven Valentine led the Trojans in kills with 21 and also added four blocks and two digs. Libero Allie Cromer had 15 digs on the night. The Trojans will hit the road on Tuesday to play Wagener-Salley at 5:30 p.m.
Aiken 3, Lexington 2
Despite losing the first two games, Aiken (19-8, 8-0 Region 5-AAAA), ranked No. 6 in Class AAAA in the most recent coaches’ poll, kept its unbeaten region record alive with the 15-25, 18-25, 25-16, 25-19, 15-8 win over No. 7 Lexington. Natasha Dicks had 20 kills in the win, and Emily Teelon had 42 digs.
Midland Valley 3, Strom Thurmond 1
Midland Valley (7-10, 4-6 Region 5-AAA) clinched a playoff spot with its 25-7, 22-25, 25-22, 25-22 win over Strom Thurmond on Wednesday.
Brittany Campbell led the team with 28 assists, and Kayla Morris led the Mustangs in kills with 19. Midland Valley will face Greenbrier (Ga.) and Fox Creek at Greenbrier at 5 p.m.
In junior varsity action, Midland Valley (14-3) finished its season with a 25-7, 25-7 victory over Strom Thurmond.
Kennedy MS 3, New Ellenton 0
Kennedy (10-0) won the match 25-20-, 25-10 25-20.
