Robert and Loretta Giancroce of Mr. Central Air Conditioning have donated $4,000 to the Aiken County School District – providing 80 Kroger gift cards that will be donated to 80 teachers.
During a Board of Education meeting Tuesday, Aiken County Schools Superintendent Dr. Beth Everitt and Board Chair Rosemary English expressed their thanks for the Giancroces’ assistance. Robert Giancroce had previously donated gift cards for more than $2,000 in 2010.
“As I listened to the School Board discuss the financial strain facing educators and the restrictions on spending, it gave me an idea,” Giancroce said. “As a parent and business owner, it felt necessary to show my personal appreciation to teachers.”
School officials will use the gift cards to reward teachers with outstanding performance in and out of the classroom, and for being a positive role model for not only students but their peers, as well.
“This generous gesture is a pleasant surprise and reminder of our supporters in the business community,” Everitt said. “Teachers will be awarded gift cards periodically after nominations by their school principal are reviewed and selected. Mr. Giancroce has shown unwavering support for our educators over the years, and we appreciate his effort to enhance their experience in the school system.”
It’s important to recognize extraordinary teachers through the school year, said Ansley Bennett, a Kroger associate.
“We were happy to assist Mr. Giancroce with his generous gift to teachers in Aiken County,” she said.
Giancroce said he appreciated the opportunity to do the right thing in honoring teachers.
“Success in our schools is success in our community,” he said. “My goal is to keep education at the forefront of the business community. I hope more businesses take part in teacher appreciation projects this school year. We all need to say ‘Thank You’ to our teachers.”
