Local news in brief: Middle school yard sale, high school FFA plant sales, college student nurses fundraiser
Aiken Middle’s PTO yard sale spots
The Aiken Middle School PTO is seeking “hoarders” – or those who need to clean out their garages – to participate in a community yard sale at the school on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Spots are available for $10 each and can be reserved by calling Tina Burrell at 624-0199 or Michele Cahill at 522-4451. Space is limited, so those seeking spots should not delay.
Sellers will get to keep their profits. They should bring their own tables and chairs, as none will be provided.
Proceeds from sales of the spaces will be used to help the middle school teachers with classroom supplies, special “wish lists” and other needs.
Aiken Middle School is located at 101 Gator Lane, off Wire Road east of Rudy Mason Parkway.
Aiken High FFA hosting fall plant sales
The Aiken High School FFA organization will hold a fall plant sale at the agriculture education classroom behind the football field off Teague Street Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.
The students have pansies, custom-painted pumpkins and mums available for sale.
The plants are also available at the same location this week during school hours from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
USC Aiken student nurses host fundraiser
The Student Nurses Advisory Council at USC Aiken will hold a fundraiser at Very Berry Yogurt on Friday from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m.
The advisory council members are raising funds in order to participate in a dance marathon at USCA next month, said the council’s president, Amanda Moriarty. A portion of the proceeds from sales will also go to the Children’s Hospital at the Georgia Health Sciences Medical Center.
“We do our clinicals at the Children’s Hospital,” she said, “and it’s important to raise money for them. We really see the impact of it.”
