Graniteville resident Brandon Martin is $100,000 richer after buying a Carolina Panthers lottery ticket.

On his way into work at Emerson Corporation in Aiken, Martin stopped at the Raceway on Columbia Highway and bought the $5 instant ticket and scored a $100,000 win.

He called his wife, who also works at Emerson, and the two met in the officeís parking lot.

ďI kissed himĒ after seeing the ticket, said Martinís wife. ďItís about time he won.Ē

The two clocked in together, but the winning ticket proved too much of a distraction, according to the S.C. Education Lottery. They took off half a day and traveled to Columbia to cash in the ticket.

The couple told lottery officials they will celebrate their three-year wedding anniversary next week and are grateful for the winning ticket.

ďIím excited to be able to improve my familyís financial condition,Ē Martin said, according to the S.C. Education Lottery. ďI want this to better my family.Ē

As of Tuesday, three top prizes remain in the Carolina Panthers instant ticket game. The odds of winning the top prize are one in 540,000.

For selling the claimed ticket, Raceway in Aiken received a commission of $1,000.
