Mr. and Mrs. Samuel R. Hunley of Aiken, South Carolina and Mr. and Mrs. Michael W. Skeen of Waynesboro, Georgia are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Betty Caroline Skeen of Brooklyn, New York to Hunter Lloyd Gorinson of Brooklyn, New York, the son of Mrs. Barbara A. Jorgenson, Esq. and Dr. David J. Bowering of Chestertown, Maryland, and the late Mr. Stanley Martin Gorinson, Esq. of Bethesda, Maryland. The wedding is planned for Fall of 2013.
Betty’s grandparents are Dr. and Mrs. Frank Prior of Aiken, Mr. Joshua Skeen and the late Mrs. Catherine Skeen of Aiken, and Mrs. Doris Hunley and the late Mr. Thomas Hunley, Jr. of Mathews, Virginia. She is a 2003 honors graduate of the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities, 2007 Magna Cum Laude graduate of Sweet Briar College with a B.A. in Creative Writing and Dance, and 2010 graduate of the University of Maryland with a M.F.A. in Choreography and Performance. She is a company member of the Pearson Widrig Dance Theater, 2012/13 Guest Artist at Middlebury College, Sweet Briar College, and University of Maryland, and is a Sales Coordinator for Gaynor Minden, Inc., New York City.
Hunter’s grandparents are Mrs. Jean Jorgenson and the late Mr. Arthur Jorgenson of Oldsmar, FL, and the late Dr. and Mrs. Rubin Gorinson, of Brooklyn, New York. He is a 2004 graduate of Bard College at Simon’s Rock, 2006 graduate of New York University with a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communications, and a 2012 candidate for M.S. in Media Management from The New School. He is Marketing and Communications Manager for Valiant Entertainment, New York City.

Logan Bradley Harrison was born to Stephen and Stephanie Harrison of Warrenville on Aug. 9, 2012, at Trinity Hospital. He weighed 8 pounds 15 ounces and measured 21 inches.
Grandparents are Kenny and Patricia Arthur of Graniteville, James and Ellen Wimberly of Dearing, Ga., and Dale Harrison of Dearing.
Logan’s siblings are Cohen, 4, and Blake, 2.

The bride-elect is a 2001 graduate of Aiken High School. She is a 2004 graduate of USC Columbia with a B.S. in biology and a 2009 graudate of the Medical University of S.C. with a D.M.D. (doctorate of dental medicine). She is employed by North Aiken Dental in Aiken.
The groom-elect is a 2001 graduate of A.R. Johnson in Augusta, Ga. He attended S.C. State and is a 2007 graduate of USC Aiken with a B.S. in biology. He is employed by DTLR in Augusta, Ga.
BIRTH — Sha’Kinah Carla Johnson
Sha’Kinah Carla Johnson was born Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, to Jennifer Oakman and Christopher Johnson of Aiken at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
She is the granddaughter of Carla Mayes and Christopher Johnson of Aiken. She has four siblings, Tamira Johnson, 7; Maurice Johnson, 5; Rakeem Culbreath, 4; and Najee Culbreath, 2.
Simpkins - Jones weddingVanessa Jones of Aiken and Deon Simpkins of Aiken were married Saturday, Sept. 1, at 6 p.m.. in the Victorian Wedding Chapel. The bride was given in marriage by her mother, Violetta Markley. The Rev. Jerry Tindall officiated.
The bride is a daughter of Violetta and Cliff Markley of North Augusta.
The bridegroom is a son of Madeline Stallings of North Augusta. He is a grandson of Mr. and Mrs. David Simpkins of Edgefield.
Sadie Jones of Aiken was the maid of honor. Sonya Doyle of Aiken was the matron of honor.
Steven Doyle of Aiken was the best man.
Deon Simpkins Jr. of Aiken was the ringbearer.
Following a reception in the Victorian Reception House, the couple left for a wedding trip to Charleston.
They will reside in Aiken.
