New Beginning Ministries in Beech Island is holding a fall fashion show to raise funds for a new church balcony.
Keisha Leysath, member of the church and organizer of the event, said that they will showcase fashion for people ages 2 through 40.
A lot of the show will be geared toward back-to-school, and the rest will be fall fashion in general. Three local designers will be at the show, Leysath said, and the models will be showing off their clothes.
AT&T, which is currently holding a no text and drive campaign will have a pledge for people to sign at the event, as well, to say they will avoid distractions from their cellphones while operating a vehicle.
Mary Kay, Premier Jewelry Collection, Anointed Aromatics and Elite Hair Gallery will be at the event offering a variety of services and products, Leysath added.
Leysath said this is the first event she has organized, and modeling is a passion of hers, as she’s done it before. She said many of the models in this event have never been in a show, and she hopes it’s something that will boost their self esteem.
She also hopes people come out and enjoy what the event has to offer.
“I think it’s actually going to be a wonderful show,” Leysath said. “I just want to encourage everybody to come out and have fun.”
The event starts at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 8 and will be held at the Praise Place on 338 Pine Log Road in Beech Island.
Admission is free, but donations will be accepted during an offering. All proceeds will go toward the balcony project.
