Police respond to shooting at North Augusta apartment

North Augusta Public Safety responded to a shooting incident that occurred on the 300 block of East Martintown Road at the Breckenridge II apartments this morning at 2:30 a.m., according to Lt. Tim Thornton.George Drumgold, 33 years-old of Augusta, GA, was found at the scene with a gun-shot wound to his leg, police said. He was taken to the Georgia Health Sciences University for medical treatment. There were three other people "hiding in a car" at the scene, said Thorton.Witnesses claim Drumgold was involved in a physical altercation with an unidentified black male in the courtyard of the apartment complex.The investigation has not yet determined the identity of the shooter.Continue reading the Aiken Standard for updates on this story.
