South Carolina Football target and 2024 in-state prospect Mazeo Bennett is set to make his college decision. Where will he go?
Shane Beamer and South Carolina's football coaching staff have been on in-state wide receiver prospect Mazeo Bennett for some time now, as they became his second FBS offer back in October of 2021. Bennett hasn't been just a priority target of the Gamecock coaching staff, as current Gamecock commits and players have also made it known to Mazeo throughout the process how much he's wanted in Columbia.
Mazeo Bennett is a wide receiver and return specialist for the Greenville Red Raiders in Greenville, SC, and was primarily recruited by Gamecock wide receivers coach Justin Stepp, and accumulated offers from a bevy of major power five programs like Alabama, Georgia, Auburn, Florida and dozens more.
When Mazeo Bennett originally committed to Tennessee back in October, he had a list of eight schools that included schools stretching from coast-to-coast, but he had taken the majority of his visits to both South Carolina and Tennessee. Once he decommitted from the Volunteers in December, he visited Columbia the following weekend, and this past weekend, after having originally planned to visit Florida State, wound up taking a visit to South Carolina instead.
Bennett told On3 not too long ago that "South Carolina was No. 1 for me for a good while after I decommitted from Tennessee. They still are.", the timing of all these events make enough sense to where the GamecocksDigest staff believes that South Carolina will be the pick later
