The unofficial results of New Ellenton’s special election held on Tuesday are in, and it was very a close race.
Current mayor Vernon Dunbar received 214 of the 424 votes cast and his opponent, Rex Nordeen, followed closely with 210 votes.
There were five people bidding for three City Council seats. Ron Reynolds Jr. received 223 votes, a total of 214 ballots were cast for current councilman Terence Williams, and Beth Rautio received 205 votes.
Current councilman Roy Shaw was unseated after only getting 201 votes and Millard Howington received 194 votes.
