The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Monday incident during which a man was shot in the arm by the driver of a truck that fled the scene.
The incident happened just before 9 p.m. on Monday at the intersection of Windsor Drive and Fairview Road in Clearwater, according to a sheriff’s report. The 23-year-old victim said he and his mother were on the way to get gasoline when they noticed an unknown white truck, the driver of which allowed them to turn in front of him off of Augusta Road onto Old Cherokee Drive.
The white truck followed them to Windsor Drive at Fairview Drive, where they stopped at a stop sign and heard a “loud noise,” the report stated. The victim’s mother said they pulled across the street and noticed the victim was bleeding. The white truck sped off toward Bi-Lo in Clearwater.
The victim was transported to Georgia Regents Medical Center, where he was treated for a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the right arm.
A spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office said on Tuesday afternoon that no arrests have been made. The report provided no details of the suspect or vehicle description.
