A group of teenagers, five males and six females, ranging between the ages of 13 to 19, ran away from the dorm room facilty at Helping Hands on Elliot Lane, on Saturday evening.
The incident took place at approximately 9:20 p.m. The youths were seen exiting the dormitory by a Helping Hands staff member, who then contacted the Aiken Department of Public Safety, said Lt. J.D. Mahoney, ADPS.
“The staff member saw the group exit the dorm building and then run up a hill,” said Mahoney. “A search of the dorm building was conducted to determine who had runaway.”
At approximately 2 a.m., the youths were located together at Eustis Park, less than a half-mile from the dorm buildings at Helping Hands, said Mahoney. The group of runaways were returned to Helping Hands after being found at 2 a.m. Everyone appeared to be safe.
