The USC Aiken men’s golf team is No. 2 in the latest Golfstat.com national rankings. The Pacers had an outstanding fall campaign where the team notched three top-three finishes, along with a 13th-place effort.
Highlighting the fall season was the Firestone Invitational victory, which was comprised of the Pacers and 16 Division-I teams. Trailing by nine strokes entering the final 18 holes of play, USCA tallied a combined 282, which was 11 strokes better than Washington State. Head coach Mike Carlisle’s team edged the Cougars by two strokes for the victory.
The Pacers completed the fall season with a second-place effort at the Rock Barn Collegiate Invitational Oct. 28-29.
USCA is coming off a 2012-13 campaign that saw the program ranked as high as No. 3 nationally while also winning the Peach Belt Conference Championship. The Pacers will return to action Feb. 10-11 at the Matlock Invitational, which is hosted by Florida Southern and played in Lakeland, Fla.
