Local shoppers can give back to their community this week by purchasing items at select downtown businesses.
No fewer than 16 businesses will donate a portion of their sales to the United Way on Thursday as part of the Shop Today for United Way campaign, a perfect example of community synergy. Such collaboration is a great way to not only benefit a local nonprofit, but hopefully will help to boost downtown shopping and the revenues of businesses as well.
The mission of United Way is to improve the lives of folks in the community, and such fundraising initiatives ensure that can be possible.
Representatives from the agency will be stationed on Laurens Street downtown, handing out flyers and informing people about which businesses are participating. We encourage local shoppers to take part in the event and check out what downtown businesses have to offer.
Historic Downtown Aiken presents shoppers with an atmosphere unmatched by most cities and towns across the state. Thursday’s event will consequently give shoppers a chance to treat themselves to a unique local shopping experience while also giving back to a good cause. The United Way of Aiken supports more than 50 critical-needs programs and a network of 32 local partner agencies.
Whether it’s improving local education efforts, providing residents with financial stability or promoting healthy living, the ambitious goals of the agency are thankfully made easier through such creative partnerships.
