The identities of two elderly people who were killed following a two-vehicle crash in Jackson Thursday morning have been released by the Aiken County Coroner’s Office.
The accident happened about 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of Atomic Road and Tisdale Street, according to Coroner Tim Carlton.
Larry Hicks, 73, of Beech Island, stopped his 2014 Ford pickup at the stop sign of Tisdale Street and proceeded into the intersection, where he struck a southbound semi truck driven by Theondra Ransom of Jackson.
Hicks and and 84-year-old Martha Barsh, of Jackson, were pronounced dead on the scene from multiple body trauma as a result of the impact, Carlton said.
Toxicology is pending.
There was no word on whether or not Ransom received any injuries stemming from the crash.
The crash is being investigated by the Aiken County Coroner’s Office and the S.C. Highway Patrol.
