The Aiken Department of Public Safety is investigating an armed robbery at the Huddle House on Richland Avenue early this morning.
The incident happened about 1 a.m., according to a police report.
The victim told officers an unknown male walked into the store wearing a black zippered hooded sweatshirt, grabbed her by the arm and forced her to the cash register, according to the report. He told her to open the register and hand him the money.
She added that the robber told her he knew there was a man in the back of the store, and that if she was not quiet he would hurt her, according to the report. The victim felt a “blunt object” against her side, which she believed was a handgun.
The victim told police she handed the robber an undisclosed amount of money, and he exited the store, running between Huddle House and McDonald’s, according to the report.
Officers were able to obtain surveillance footage from the incident. The suspect is described as a black male, about 6 feet tall and weighing 200 pounds. He was wearing a black hoodie with plaid shorts, red socks and black flip flops.
