USC Aiken is ranked second among top public regional colleges in the South in the 2014 edition of U.S. News & World Report’s guide, “America’s Best Colleges.
Ever since U.S. News & World Report created this ranking category 16 years ago, the university has ranked in the top three public regional colleges every year, and has ranked first nine times – 2002, 2003, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013.
“Thanks to our dedicated faculty and staff, USC Aiken has been consistently providing a high quality educational experience for our students for many years,” said Chancellor Dr. Sandra Jordan. “We are honored to receive this recognition as USC Aiken continues to strive daily for excellence in education. “However, we aren’t resting on our laurels. Even greater days lie ahead for this special institution, and we look forward to partnering with our community as we celebrate this ranking and look to the future.”
In her first year on campus, Jordan launched a visioning process titled “Forward Together.”
This process highlighted institutional aspirations for distinguishing several areas, task forces were convened, and action plans are being made to help guide the university.
“At the end of the visioning process, all contributions were collated, and the major themes were identified and reported back to the campus,” Jordan said. “Ultimately, it is hoped that the process will serve to clarify and shape the opportunities that will help us advance the institution’s mission and fulfill our promise as a campus of distinction.”
