Police seek alleged gas station armed robber
Police are investigating the armed robbery of a gas station on Richland Avenue on Wednesday night, according to the Aiken Department of Public Safety.
The incident happened about 9 p.m. at the Green Light Express, according to the report. The cashier at the store told officers that while she was bending behind the counter, an unknown man entered the store and came behind the counter with his hand in his pocket, “pointing it at her like he had a gun.”
The suspect pushed the button to open the cash register and took cash from the drawer, according to the report. He was wearing a green, hooded sweat shirt with a blue bandanna over his face and blue jeans.
The store's camera system was broken at the time of the robbery, according to the report.
Aiken man sought on burglary charges
The Aiken Department of Public Safety is seeking a man it said entered a hotel through a window and tried to steal alcohol.
Clint Dale Reese, 25, of Aiken, is sought on charges of second-degree burglary. He is accused of entering an Aiken hotel through a window during the early hours of July 6, according to a statement from Aiken Public Safety. While inside the hotel, Reese reportedly tried to steal alcohol but was unsuccessful after being confronted by a hotel employee.
Reese is known to frequent the Columbia area, according to the statement. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Reese is asked to call CrimeStoppers of the Midlands at 888-CRIME-SC.
Callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
