The 39th Season for the Hopelands Summer Concert Series continues with a performance by Karen Gordon and Garden City Jazz 3 on Monday.

The performance will take place on the Roland H. Windham Performing Arts Stage at Hopelands Gardens and will begin at 7 p.m. This concert, which lasts about an hour, is sponsored by Cumberland Village.

City Jazz 3 will perform classic and contemporary jazz and tunes from the 'new' Great American Songbook. The group consists of Karen Gordon on piano and vocal, Edwin Hamilton on drums and vocals and George Sykes on bass.

Gordon is from Aiken, and not only performs as a jazz pianist and vocalist, but also organizes the Candlelight Jazz Concert Series in Augusta. Gordon said her father, a pianist, instilled her love of music. Garden City Jazz 3 presents several programs annually in area, providing performance opportunities for area jazz musicians and music students, while promoting awareness of the historical and cultural significance of jazz music.

This year's concert series is dedicated to the memory of Cecelia “CeCe” Reynolds, who was a Concert Series volunteer for 35 years, and Carl Crosby, who was the owner and director of Crosby's School of Dance.

The Hopelands Summer Concert Series will continue throughout the summer each Monday night until the end of August. All concerts begin at 7 p.m. unless otherwise noted and are held at Hopelands Gardens on the Windham Performing Arts Stage. Events are family-friendly and free of charge. Food is allowed, but alcohol is not. Well-behaved pets on leashes are allowed.

Public parking is available at the Green Boundary Club on Whiskey Road across from Hopelands Gardens. Handicap parking is available at the Hopelands Gardens parking lot on 135 Dupree Place. Parking is not allowed on the sides of Berrie Road or Dupree Place.
