Dogwood Stable’s Palace Malice was back on the work tab Sunday morning, breezing 5-furlongs in 1:00.32 at Saratoga. The Grade 1 winner is in the final stages of preparation for his next start the Grade 2 Jim Dandy Stakes at Saratoga on July 27.
A strong contingent of Dogwood Stable juveniles will be making their racing debuts at Saratoga Race Course, and fittingly so during the storied venue’s 150th anniversary, and among those will be a dark bay colt named after one of the sport’s legendary conditioners.
The nomenclature given the colt, celebrates the Hall of Fame horseman, who was known endearingly as the Gentleman Trainer from Morgan Street, and is among those 2-year-olds in training. Mack Miller worked on July 4, breezing a half-mile from the gate in 50.01 seconds.
A half-brother to graded stakes winner Electrify and Rothko, to stakes winner Cream Only and stakes placed Kinsey, the son of Yes It’s True was purchased at the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company 2013 March Sale of Selected 2-Year-Olds in Training from the consignment of Eisaman Equine.
