Spring high fives: Aiken Standard's picks of the Top 5 local athletes

The Aiken Standard sports staff recently selected the top five athletes, one a Player of the Year, in each of the spring high school sports.

BASEBALL

PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Taylor Widener, South Aiken

As a pitcher and No. 3 hitter, Widener led South Aiken to the Lower State championship bracket against Lexington. Widener is set to play for South Carolina.

PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Stefanie Bloedel, Fox Creek

Bloedel was dominant in the circle for the Predators, as Region 4-A champ Fox Creek advanced deep in the Class A playoffs. Bloedel is headed to the College of Charleston.
