McCormick, S.C. – Mr. Carlton Horace McKinney, Sr., 83 of South Pine Street entered into rest on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at his residence. The memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Rice Memorial Baptist church with Rev. Alvin Hodges and Rev. Jimmy Tucker officiating. Mr. McKinney was the son of the late Horace Herman McKinney and the late Rosalie Kinney McKinney. He was retired from Milliken as a textile worker, veteran of the United States Army and a member of Rice Memorial Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Shelvie Story McKinney; four children, Karen Carter of McCormick, Carlton McKinney, Jr. and wife, Gail all of McCormick, Maria McKinney-Heath and husband, Kevin of Aiken, Tina Levens and husband, Wayne of Simpsonville, S.C.; seven grandchildren, Jamie, Joey and Jon Carter, Morgan Heath, Josh and Jake Scruggs and Lauren Vickery; five great-grandchildren, Ella Grace, Garrett, Zachary and Gabriel Scruggs and Madison Forrester; one niece, Patricia Henderson; three nephews, Bobby, Marion and Ronald Aycock. If so desired memorial contributions may be made to Rice Memorial Baptist Church, 1975 Hwy 72 West, Greenwood, S.C. 29649. The family will receive friends at the church following the memorial service. Rees Funeral Home, 195 Peachtree Street, Lincolnton, Georgia 706-359-3222 is in charge of arrangements.
