I just finished reading Gregory J. Topliff’s letter “Public should demand justice after lies told” in the Aiken Standard.
One paragraph states, “It’s typical of the Democrats to try and rewrite the truth ...” So I would like to mention a few things.
During the Reagan term, the Iran-Contra affair happened, selling arms to Iran and sending the money to the Contras. No one in the White House knew anything about it as a Marine officer, Oliver North, masterminded it (The whole world believed that).
Then, George H.W. Bush granted immunity to the men who knew, CIA director William Colby and Secretary of Defense Caspar Weinberger. That stopped the investigation.
But I don’t want to talk about that – I want to talk about Benghazi. A young female soldier, Jessica Lynch, was seriously hurt when the truck in which she was riding wrecked. The report from George W. Bush’s office stated she went down firing her weapon killing Iraqi soldiers. The fact is the Iraqis saved her life, taking her to a hospital. Then came a report that a S.W.A.T. team went in and rescued her. The truth is a doctor told them where she was, and they walked in and took her to the base.
I don’t want to talk about that, only Benghazi.
It took six months to get the truth about how football player-turned soldier Pat Tillman was killed in Afghanistan. First, it was heavy enemy fire and, finally, friendly fire. Of course, the invasion of Iraq stands above all, but I don’t want to talk about that, only Benghazi.
Yes, I hate that four people were killed in the attack on the embassy, but I’ve heard enough from the right-wingers.
