The Aiken Woman’s Club would like to say thank you to the community for their support for our 27th Annual Very Special Arts Festival held last month in conjunction with the Area 15 Special Olympics Spring Games at Midland Valley High School.
The event offered hands-on art experiences for more than 900 Aiken-area students with special needs from Aiken, Saluda and Edgefield counties. Our local festival was funded by the Aiken County Association for Special Citizens, the Knights of Columbus, the Aiken Woman’s Club, the Women of Woodside and the Sand River Woman’s Club.
It is impossible to list all 300 individuals who took time from their busy schedules to come out to assist with the festival. However, we would like to acknowledge the following organizations, people and businesses: Midland Valley high School, Midland Valley High School Band Booster, Midland Valley National Arts Honor Society, Junior Leadership of Aiken 2012-2013, Sand River Woman’s Club, North Augusta Pilot Club, ACCTC Cosmetology students, Dr. Ashcraft’s office staff, Mead Hall Episcopal School, North Augusta High School FCCLA and Culinary Arts, North Augusta High School Spanish Club, North Augusta High School Beta Club, North Augusta High School Sandspurs, St. Mary’s 8th Grade Class, Aiken High School Teacher Cadets, South Aiken High School National Honors Arts Society, South Aiken High School Beta Club, Sand River Woman’s Club, Women of Woodside, South Aiken Baptist Christian School, Stephen and Zeda Homoki, The Cat in the Hat (Tom Brandner) and Mary Gregory with Toby, her certified therapy dog.
