Letter: Resisting the Boondoggle

Congratulations to the patriotic group of neighbor and friends who voiced their opposition to the plans for the “boondoggle” Hitchcock Park Freeway.

What a great show of intelligent, well-organized resistance to a poorly planned and wasteful project, a plan that would destroy a scenic portion of our roadway by constructing at least four or five lanes of concrete at a cost of $35 million dollars. Ironically, this highway would create more problems and solve none.

Thanks to this group, the taxpayers have saved not just millions in taxes, but they have saved neighborhoods in this beautiful area.

It never ceases to amaze me, the good that can be done when citizens participate in questioning government.
