The Rev. Jeremiah Wright, President Barack Obama's former minister, will be traveling from Chicago to be the revivalist during Aiken's Second Baptist Church's revival being held from Monday to Wednesday.
Second Baptist will be holding the event at 7 p.m. each night at the church, located at 425 Hampton Avenue.
In March 2008, Rev. Wright made national headlines for comments made during sermons at Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, which were deemed controversial and inflammatory.
Wright's sermons were long attended by Obama before his election to the presidency, leading the pastor's remarks to be highly publicized in connection to his White House campaign.
Obama currently attends church services in Washington, D.C.
Second Baptist Church, which currently has over 500 members, has served the Aiken community for more than 100 years, according to its website.
For more information about the revival, call the church's administrative office at 803-644-3994.
