A body found in a wooded area off Hamelin Road in Aiken County on Tuesday has been ruled a homicide, according to Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton.
The victim has been identified as 37-year-old Kevin M. Holder of Swansea, Carlton said in a statement. An autopsy on Wednesday revealed that he died of a gunshot wound.
Holder's death is being investigated as a homicide, Carlton said.
“It's an ongoing investigation,” said Capt. Eric Abdullah, a spokesman for the Aiken County Sheriff's Office. “There's nothing I can give you at this moment other than that the coroner's office identified this person.”
Abdullah said the 911 call came in at 4:19 p.m. on Tuesday after a property owner located the body on his property.
A spokesman could not be reached for the Swansea Police Department or the Lexington County Sheriff's Department.
