An Aiken man has died in a single-car accident on Outing Club Road early Saturday morning after midnight.
The victim was identified as Ivory A. Kirkland Jr., 37, said Aiken County coroner Tim Carlton.
No one witnessed the accident, which appears to have occurred about 12:30 a.m. At about 1:45 a.m. a motorist reported the overturned vehicle near 200 Outing Club Road, which is located off Vaucluse Road. Kirkland lived on Outing Club Road, Carleton said.
The coroner said the vehicle is a Saturn four-door sedan, bearing a Georgia license plate. It appeared to have been traveling north when it left the highway and struck a drainage culvert on the right side of the road. The vehicle overturned, partially ejecting the driver - the only known occupant.
This the seventh fatal crash in Aiken County in 2013, Carlton said in a press release. His office and the S.C. Highway Patrol are investigating the circumstances of the accident. Toxicology results are pending.
