Two Aiken Technical College students were named to the 2013 Phi Theta Kappa All-State Academic Team in a ceremony held at the S.C. Statehouse this week.
Adelaide Marcoux and Jeremiah Thayer were among 25 students from technical colleges throughout the state honored by the South Carolina Technical College System for their academic excellence and leadership skills. All-State Academic Team students were nominated by faculty at their respective colleges based on their academic performance, leadership accomplishments, and service to their colleges and local communities.
Marcoux, of North Augusta, is pursuing an associate in applied science degree with a major in management. She is a member of ATC’s Alpha Xi Lambda Chapter of PTK and has received dean’s list honors and the LIFE Scholarship. She is also involved in Operation Christmas Child, Christian Life Club, Emmaus Prison Ministry, Kids Night Out, Augusta Choral Society, Civil Air Patrol and AWANA.
Thayer, of Aiken, is pursuing an associate in arts degree and is also a member of the Alpha Xi Lambda Chapter of PTK. His honors include dean’s list, the Aiken Technical College Foundation Scholarship and the Maurice Williams/Aiken County Home Builders Scholarship. He is involved in humanitarian construction, First Responders Honor Service, church activities and outreach.
