Police are looking for a man who, over the weekend, was placed under arrest but managed to flee the scene.
Aiken Public Safety officers are asking for the community’s help in finding Marrio Sherard Parker, 33, of Aiken who is wanted for escape, weapon and drug charges.
Parker was stopped for speeding on Whiskey Road when the responding officer noticed the smell of marijuana emitting from his vehicle, according to a police report.
The officer asked Parker if he had smoked any marijuana that evening and if he had any on his person. Parker said yes and handed the officer a cigar filled with a green, leafy material, the report read.
Parker was placed under arrest, and, during a search of the vehicle, a pistol was located under the driver’s seat, according to the report.
Parker, who was handcuffed, was escorted to the officer’s patrol vehicle but resisted and fled on foot.
A search was conducted in the area but Parker could not be located.
Officers say Parker should be considered armed and dangerous.
Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to contact Crimestoppers of the Midlands at 888-CRIME-SC (888-274-6374). Callers will remain anonymous and could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1000.
