Aiken native Jeanette Traver, a senior at Presbyterian College, was recently honored with the MLK Drum Major for Service Presidential Volunteer Service award. The award recognizes U.S. citizens who have achieved a certain number of hours of service over the past year. Traver has travelled to Haiti to help apply fluoride treatments to students’ teeth and helped to build the school’s new medical clinic. She continues to also do service work in Clinton, where she volunteers as a Big Sister for the Thornwell Home for Children. Within her sorority, Sigma Sigma Sigma, Traver volunteers with the Robbie Page Memorial and various other fundraisers on campus such as the Twister-a-thon.
