Joyful Victory and Willcox Inn make their 2013 debuts tomorrow

Rick Porter’s Fox Hill Farm’s multiple graded stakes winner Joyful Victory will be making her 5-year-old debut, returning to the races after a 65 day layoff, and the gray daughter of Grade 1 winner Tapit has been entered in the 1 1/16-mile $400,000 Houston Ladies Classic Saturday at Sam Houston Park. The Ontario-bred conditioned by Larry Jones has drawn the rail, and will carry 115 pounds. Jockey Rosie Napravnik will be in the irons. Joyful Victory was broken and trained by Tim and Cary Frommer.

Joyful Victory has been a model of consistency, having run in the money in all seven of her starts during her 4-year-old campaign. winning the Tiffany Lass Stakes at the Fair Grounds last February. She placed third in her most recent effort, the Grade 2 Fall City Handicap at Churchill Downs on Nov. 22, and all three of her stakes victories have come at the 1 1/16-mile distance.

It was during her sophomore campaign that Joyful Victory scored consecutive stakes victories with a seven-length winnng effort in the Grade 2 Fantasy Stakes and an 8 3/4-length win in the Grade 3 Honeybee Stakes.

Joyful Victory has 4 wins, 5 seconds and 3 thirds, and has lifetime earnings of $673,079.

The horse named after one of Aiken’s most prominent landmarks will also be making his seasonal bow. All Inn Stable’s and Lael Stable’s Willcox Inn is among the entries for Saturday’s $200,000 Grade 3 Connally Turf Cup at Sam Houston Park. A three time graded stakes winner, the 5-year-old horse is conditioned by Mike Stidham, and has earned $668,543.
