The Aiken High School boys' basketball team overcame an early seven-point deficit to post a double-digit win over Region 5-AAAA rival Lexington Tuesday.

“It was a beautiful second half,” Aiken head coach Tony Harrell said of his team's performance that improves their record to 12-5 on the season and 2-1 in region.

Shawn Moore led the Hornets with 18 points, Dramel Coleman chipped in 13 and Ryan McKie added 11 more. Harrell said Deon Hicks had a very big game playing especially well on defense and rebounding the ball for Aiken, which will return to action on Friday at North Augusta.

Fox Creek 66

Williston-Elko 35

Four Fox Creek players scored in double figures in a lopsided win over Williston-Elko. DJ Curry led the way with 17 points, Marques Sumner added 13 while Brandyn Quiller and Martrell Allen scored 10 apiece for the Predators (11-6, 6-0 Region 4-A), who will return to action on Friday at home against Wagener-Salley. Kalief Freeman led the Blue Devils (7-6, 3-3) with 12 points and they'll play next on Friday at home against North.

Midland Valley 60

Airport 55

Midland Valley remained undefeated in Region 5-AAA with a win over Airport. Latrell Lee scored 14 points to lead the Mustangs (13-6, 4-0), while Kameron Brown (11) and Javoddis Coach (10) also had double-digit point totals. Midland Valley's next game is Friday at Strom Thurmond High School.

Silver Bluff 78

Calhoun County 66

Donte Wright had a huge game, scoring 34 points in Silver Bluff's win over Calhoun County. Nick Cummings added 10 and Jalen Douse posted eight more for the Bulldogs (8-7, 3-1 Region 5-AA), who will play again on Thursday at home against Barnwell.

Wagener-Salley and Ridge Spring-Monetta games postponed

Because of a technical issue with the scoreboard at Wagener-Salley High School, Tuesday's girls' and boys' doubleheader against Ridge Spring-Monetta was postponed and is expected to be played tonight, with the girls' game starting at 6:30 p.m. The games had to be postponed because of a SCHSL rule.

The Aiken High School girls basketball team improved to 12-4 and 2-1 in Region 5-AAAA with a win over Lexington. Erin Gilmore led the Hornets with 14 points while Alexis Odom chipped in 11. Aiken will return to action at North Augusta on Friday.

Fox Creek 39

Williston-Elko 38

Fox Creek (5-9) eked out a one-point win over Williston-Elko, thanks in large part because of Stephanie Bloedel's big game. Bloedel scored 24 points and teammate Dominique Moore added 9 for the Predators, who will play host to Wagener-Salley on Friday, the same night Williston-Elko will greet North.

Shakyra Martin scored 15 points for Strom Thurmond (9-5, 4-1 Region 5-AAA) in a win over Gilbert. Jasmine Mealing added 10 points for the rebels, who will host Midland Valley on Friday.

Silver Bluff 37

Ashanti Brown scored a team-best 17 points for Silver Bluff (10-4, 4-0 Region 5-AA) in a win over Calhoun County. Silver Bluff will play again on Thursday at home against Barnwell.

Schofield MS 43

Ridge Spring-Monetta 6

Destiny Williams outscored her opponents all by herself in Schofield's win over Ridge Spring-Monetta on Monday. Schofield (8-1) will return to action on Thursday against Kennedy.
