Dr. Mae Jean Englee said that there’s a science to beauty.
The local physician has established a new office, Inner Beauty MD Wellness and Aesthetics, in Downtown Aiken. The grand opening of the business is today.
This facility offers a variety of services that focus on both the well-being and healthy appearance of a person, Englee said.
“We want to treat people as a whole here,” Englee said.
The preventive medicine services include medically supervised weight loss, nutritional counseling and medical-grade vitamin and supplement therapy. They also offer wellness treatments for menopause, thyroid disease, depression, anxiety and metabolic syndrome.
Englee said taking such steps like losing weight and changing diet has helped some people become more energized, their pain is alleviated and they may even ween off of some of their medications. Her hope is to help as a many residents as she can heal in a comfortable setting.
Aesthetic services include TruSculpt body contouring, Botox and dermal fillers, customized facials, chemical peels, Dermaplaning, Laser Genesis and laser or Nufree hair removal. There are also therapeutic facials to treat signs of aging, rosacea, acne, hyperpigmentation and more. The LimeLite IPL service removes age spots, sun damage, freckles and other pigment changes.
Englee said that making people happy makes her happy and being able to help someone feel good all around is very satisfying.
“There’s a sense of well-being, especially when we mix wellness with aesthetics, to make someone feel good inside and out,” Englee said.
The office offers pharmaceutical-grade supplements and integrative medicine as well as medical grade skin care products.
Englee has been a practicing physician in the Aiken area for nine years and established her office – Graniteville Family Medical Center. She said medicine has always fascinated her. She attended Cetec University School of Medicine but after getting married and having children, her family became her priority. After her youngest child entered kindergarten, she worked on her medical residency and completed her training at East Tennessee University.
Englee is board certified in family medicine and is a staff member of Aiken Regional Medical Centers. She has worked in the hospital’s Wound Care Center, she is a former medical director for Carriage Hills and has served as the director of several hospice programs.
Englee is also a member of the International Association for Physicians in Aesthetic Medicine.
She’s a member of the Greater Aiken Chamber of Commerce and was named Woman of the Year by the National Association of Professional Women.
Englee said she opened the office in Aiken because she felt there was need for the services they offer. Englee is thrilled to be located in the downtown area, saying that Aiken is quaint but so much is happening there, too.
