A 52-year-old Clearwater man was detained for unlawful carrying of a weapon after officers pulled him over on Yates Street for failure to use a turn signal on Saturday. A passenger in the vehicle was also detained for possession of crack cocaine.
Vehicle break-ins were reported on Sunday and Monday on Highland Park Drive, Hillcrest Avenue, Barnwell Avenue, Fairway Road, Edrie Street and Hall Drive.
The Aiken Department of Public Safety is investigating a burglary at a home on Carpenter Lane on Sunday. A television was reported stolen and officers found signs of forced entry.
Shoplifting incidents were reported at Walmart on Whiskey Road, Tractor Supply on Whiskey Road and Kent’s Korner on York Street.
A vehicle was reported stolen from Chatfield Street on Tuesday. The vehicle is described as a grey 1992 Ford Ranger pickup.
A 25-year-old North Augusta man was detained for driving under the influence on Tuesday after deputies pulled him over for crossing the center line twice on Highway 25.
The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of shots fired on Dry Branch Road in Aiken just after midnight on Tuesday. The victim told officers he fired a shot into the air to scare the suspect, with whom he had just had an argument.
A wallet was reported stolen from Bi-Lo on Jefferson Davis Highway in Clearwater on Monday.
Officers are investigating an assault that happened at the Marlboro Station on Marlboro Street on Saturday. The victim told officers he was working security for the club and that while he was removing a patron for violating club rules, the patron slammed the door on him, striking him twice. The suspect also punched the victim in the face, then left the scene in a black Dodge.
The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office is investigating burglaries on Cato Road in Warrenville, Fleetwood Drive in North Augusta, Happiness Lane in Beech Island and Scrub Oak Court in Ridge Spring.
Vehicle break-ins were reported on Seneca Avenue in Aiken on Monday and Hillside Drive in North Augusta on Monday.
