William Campbell’s multiple stakes winner Brimstone Island won a 7-furlong starter allowance race, going gate to wire for a 3 1/2-length score on Dec. 8 at Laurel Park. The winner was ridden by Xavier Perez, and is conditioned by Campbell. The 3-year-old son of the 2000 Horse of the Year Tiznow was broken and trained in Aiken by Legacy Stable’s Brad Stauffer and Ron Stevens. Brimstone Island placed second in the Miracle Wood Stakes and Canonero II Stakes and third in the Private Terms Stakes earlier in his sophomore campaign.
Brimstone Island has 7 wins, 5 seconds and 3 thirds from 20 starts, and has earned $171,943.
Hunter Valley Farm’s Ingenue, who finished second in the 2011 Aiken Trials’ Gaver Trophy, won a 6 1/2-furlong race by daylight over the Polytrack Classic track at Turfway Park on Dec. 8, scoring by 7 3/4-lengths. The 3-year-old chestnut filly by Mr. Greeley is conditioned by Eddie Kenneally.
Ingenue was broken and trained by Legacy Stable’s Brad Stauffer and Ron Stevens.
Lee Mauberret and Harold Heidingsfelder’s Here Music came from off the pace, making a late move toward the rail, and won a 1-mile and 70 yards race by 1 1/4 lengths at Hawthorne Race Course on Dec. 9. The chestnut filly is conditioned by Chris Block. The winner paid $15.40. The daughter of Dehere was bred by Edward Evans, and was broken and trained in Aiken by Legacy Stable’s Brad Stauffer and Ron Stevens.
John Foster’s Promenade Home broke her maiden in a 6 1/2-furlong race by 4-lengths Dec. 19 at Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races. Kieron Magee conditions the winner that was ridden by Grant Whitacre. The juvenile filly is by Grade 1 winner Friends Lake, and was broken and trained by Tim and Cary Frommer.
Adirondack Rose Thoroughbreds’ Lightning Stone won a 1 1/16-mile allowance race on the turf on Dec. 23 at Tampa Bay Downs by 3 3/4-lengths. The New York-bred juvenile colt by Stonesider is conditioned by Bill Allyn. The two-year-old chestnut colt was broken and trained by Allyn at the Palmetto Thorougbred Training Center.
Bill and Scarlett Simpson’s Dunbarton Stable LLC’s Friscan, winner of the 2011 Aiken Trials Coward Trophy, and second in the 2012 Aiken Trials City of Aiken Trophy, placed second in a 5 1/2-furlong allowance race Dec. 19 at Laurel Park. Friscan is conditioned by Michael Trombetta, and was broken and trained by Tim and Cary Frommer.
