A 60-year-old Warrenville man was killed Thursday when his vehicle was struck by a semi-truck on Highway 19, according to the Aiken County Coroner's Office.
Benjamin Riley was pronounced dead at Aiken Regional Medical Centers at 6:45 p.m., according to a statement from the coroner's office.
The accident happened around 6 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 19 and Highway 191.
Riley entered the southbound lane of Highway 19 and was struck on the driver's side door of his four-door 2010 Chevrolet, according to the report. The semi was being driven by William Peterson, of Johnston.
“The extent of Mr. Peterson's injuries, if any, are unknown,” the report stated. Toxicology reports on both drivers are pending, and the state Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
This is the 21st traffic fatality in Aiken County in 2012.
