The victim in Saturday night's fatal shooting at the Lucky 7 on Hampton Avenue has been identified, according to reports.
The Aiken County Coroner's Office reported the victim is 21-year-old Delance Terez Walton of Hephzibah, Ga., but very little additional detail about the incident has been released.
Sgt. Jason Feemster with the Sheriff's Office said Sunday that the incident remains under investigation.
Deputies responded to reports of a shooting incident at the convenience store, located at the corner of Hampton Avenue and Terry Drive, on Saturday about 6:50 p.m. There, law enforcement observed Walton lying on his side in the front seat of a white Ford Crown Victoria in the parking lot, according to a Sheriff's Office incident report.
Walton was unresponsive and pronounced dead on the scene by EMS.
The vehicle had multiple bullet holes in it, the report states.
Following what was said to be an argument between the suspect and the victim, shots were fired, and the suspect fled on foot, Feemster has said.
The suspect was described as a black male wearing a black-hooded sweatshirt.
An autopsy on the victim is scheduled for today in Newberry.
